Andreas Witt
Andreas Witt is professor for Computational Humanities and Text Technologies at the University of Mannheim. Since 1st March 2020 also heads the department of Digital Linguistics at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim and is Honorary Professor of Digital Humanities at the Institute for Computational Linguistics at Heidelberg University. Before that, he was professor for Digital Humanities and Linguistic Information Processing at the University of Cologne. His research is situated in the field of annotation science. Andreas Witt is an active member of standards bodies, viz. chair of an ISO working group on linguistic annotation and, together with Piotr Bański, co-chair of the TEI Special Interest Group, TEI for Linguists. For the 2016–2018 academic years he was selected by the iSchool of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a research fellow.
