Matthias Lang
Matthias Lang is currently head of the eScience-Center at the University of Tübingen and responsible for the establishment of infrastructures and course offerings for the Digital Humanities. One of the focal point of the efforts lies on the archaeology.
He received his master-degree and his PhD in Classical Archaeology from the University of Bonn. As a PhD-candidate Matthias Lang was Research Assistant at the Department of Archaeometry at the Helmholtz-Institute for Nuclear Physics at the University of Bonn.
From 2007-2009 he was a research associate at the Institute for Archaeological Science at the University of Bochum and from 2009-2013 at the Archaeological Institute at University of Göttingen.
In the last years Matthias Lang has participated in a number of archaeological field projects where he was responsible for the use of digital methods.
His research interests lie in the use of GIS in landscape archeology, the development and use of sustainable database systems and of new digital documentation-methods in archaeological fieldwork. His second focus lies on the use of three-dimensional methods in archeology.
