Computing Methods applied to DH: XML Markup and Document Structuring

(introductory/intermediate level)

The main purpose of this workshop is to learn how to encode texts using XML and TEI (Text Encoding Initiative). Participants will:

• acquire skills in text encoding using the TEI set of tags,
• will gain a thorough knowledge of document structuring,
• ill get to know the XML family of technologies.

Additionally, we will deal with other interesting project management issues such as: engineering document production, building digital libraries, copyright issues on the Internet, digital preservation, collaborative environments, Web 2.0 and social networks.
