
Schöch, Christof
Christof Schöch is researcher at the Chair for Digital Philology of the University of Würzburg, working in the DARIAH-DE project (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities, http://de.dariah.eu). His interests in research and teaching are the French Enlightenment, digital philology (digital editions, quantitative text analysis), and the contemporary French novel.
He studied Romance languages, English and Psychology in Freiburg (Germany) and Tours (France). His master's thesis was on François Bon. From 2004 to 2011, he had been employed by the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Kassel University (Germany). He obtained his PhD in 2008 with a study of La Description double dans le roman des Lumières 1760-1800 (binational programme Kassel / Paris-IV). The thesis was awarded the Prix Germaine de Stael 2010. He published an electronic edition of Bérardier de Batauts Essai sur le récit (http://www.berardier.org). With Annette Gerstenberg and Lars Schneider, he is directing the platform romanistik.de. He is member of the editorial team of the blogging platform de.hypotheses.org and runs a blog called The Dragonfly's Gaze (http://www.dragonfly.hypotheses.org).
