
Project Planning and Management
Week 1 – Introduction to Project Management
As Digital Humanities projects become larger and more complex, it becomes increasingly important for scholars / researchers to be able to manage these projects and resources effectively. One tool for scholars / researchers to meet these challenges and demands is project management. This course will cover the basics of project management from project definition to project review upon completion. Topics such as budget setting and controls, risk management, critical path scheduling, software tools, and related Internet resources will also be discussed. Material will be covered through lectures, discussions, case studies and presentations. By the end of the course, participants will be able to implement the concepts and tools in their projects.
Week 2 – Advanced topics in Project Management
This workshop will build on Week 1 with a focus on more advanced topics, including accountability and governance processes and structures, building institutional support, alternative funding and labour sources, challenges with international teams, and other topics.
