Sebastian Drude
Sebastian Drude (Dr. Phil., Freie Universität Berlin 2002) is a linguist active in language documentation, linguistic typology, language technology and research data infrastructures.
He studied the Aweti language (Tupi, in the Upper Xingu, Central Brazil) between 1997 and 2011 with grants from the DAAD and as principal researcher in a DOBES (Documentation of Endangered Languages, Volkswagenstiftung). Between 2008 and 2011 he held a Dilthey-Fellowship at the Institute for Comparative Linguistics at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, where he continues to be affiliated as Privatdozent. In Brazil he was active in establishing language documentation and contributed to the establishment of the two regional language archives in Belém and Rio de Janeiro.
From November 2011 until September 2014, Sebastian Drude was Scientific Coordinator and Head of The Language Archive (TLA) at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psycholinguistics. Since then he is General Coordinator of CLARIN, the European Research Infrastructure for language resources and technology.
