
XML-TEI encoding, structuring and rendering
This workshop comprises two parts:
Week 1: Introduction to XML-TEI text encoding, deals with producing digital text documents using XML and the TEI encoding scheme. This is a hands-on, introductory-level course.
Week 2: XML-TEI document structuring and rendering, deals with designing and validating document structures, and with producing nice renderings by means of CSS stylesheets and XSLT transformations. This is a hands-on, medium-level course.

- Markup basics
- Text markup using XML and TEI
- High level tags
- Low level tags
- Markup of different literary styles
- Special-purpose tagsets
Week 2: XML-TEI document structuring and rendering
DOCUMENT STRUCTURING:
- Controlling document structure (DTDs and Schemas)
- Visual modelling of document structures
DOCUMENT RENDERING:
- Text rendering & transformation
- CSS sylesheets
- XSLT transformations
OTHER ISSUES (if time allows)
